My home is strictly non smoking both inside and outside please! My home is very near the City and less than 15 mins walk to Cairns Central Shopping Centre) , TAFE college is 7 minutes walk and within walking distance of most high schools and primary schools (talk to me about that if you're interested in having your kids stay with me to attend High School or primary school in 2022 . Prices for students will be higher than the prices listed on here because it usually includes breakfast, lunch and dinner and more responsibility as guardian for your children whilst in my care). My home is situated in a very short street, very secure, quiet & private. Downstairs Granny Flat Studio . Air-conditioned with kitchenette, microwave, induction hot plates, Full size fridge, dishwasher & open plan bathroom & separate toilet. Also, downstairs Studio 43 is also fully self-contained with kitchenette, microwave, induction hot plates, Smart TV, Full size fridge, & private bathroom/toilet.
Two Rooms Upstairs ( one has a king size bed which can be made into two singles and the other room is a king single bed which is just a little bit narrower than a double bed) both suit single person or students. You will share a bathroom with one other person & my kitchen with me upstairs There is a separate full size fridge on the balcony to share.
Bus stop is 300 mtrs for 5 minute bus ride to the city area or walking distance is 15 minutes.
The city area has clean Free BBQ's for public use at the Swimming Lagoon area at the water front right near the night markets.
Both Domestic and International Airport is approx 5 klms from my home . My Airport Pick- up fee is $25 . Your next best option is Taxi.
I have been hosting students & travelers since 1994.
I have 2 cats named Abbey & Daisy.

About the Area
My home is 15 minutes walking distance (1.2 klms) to Cairns Central major shopping centre (which is on Mcleod St), from there it's another 10 minutes walk to the City Swimming/BBQ Lagoon & Coffee Shops/Restaurants, most English schools ( eg: Cairns College of English, St Josephs & St Augustine's schools, TAFE College . 10 minutes walk from the shopping centre you will find The Swimming Lagoon, The night markets, Rusty's Fruit & Veg weekend markets, Dive Centers & tourist pick up spots etc. The Esplanade & city streets are lined with Coffee Shops & beautiful restaurants boasting foods from all corners of the globe.The bus stop is 3 minutes walk from home to all other destinations.The airport is just 10 minutes by car from my home & the Hospitals are 1klm .

Please do not invite strangers back to my home.
No candles or naked flames of any kind in the rooms.
- Please be considerate of others at all times but particularly before 8am & after 9pm.

Julie’s place was very warm and welcoming and great communication. She picked us up from the airport. Lovely clean studio and house. Comfy king-sized bed with fan, A/c in the room you got your own bathroom with toilet and a kitchen with everything you need was available. Only 5 mins drive into the City and shopping centre. Thanks again for having us. Julie is a great host, and we would highly recommend a stay with her.

Julie hat uns vom Flughafen abgeholt. Wir bekamen einen guten Tipp für unseren Schnorchelausflug ! Für einen kleinen Aufpreis konnten wir bei ihr frühstücken mit Toast, Müsli frischem Obst, Kaffee und Tee soviel man wollte. Toll, gerne wieder.

We enjoyed our stay with Julie. She's very welcoming and had great tips on local activities etc... The room was comfortable and we also enjoyed the relaxing outside deck & the friendly cats :)

I certainly enjoyed Marnie's ( and her daughter Annalise and son Levy) stay at my home. I enjoyed the basketball with them too. They treated me like l was part of their family. I'd certainly welcome them back again.

Nice place, we stayed in The Granny flat, with private shower.
Julie was very helpful and pickedus up fr.o.m. The AirPort . One day When she was free fr.o.m. Work she took us to Port Cove! She also took us to a Trivia quiz at The Salt house in the harbour with her friends. We could use her laundry and she gave us a hint about a free concert at The Casino. I Will recommend Julie for people visiting Cairns.Host reply

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
