My home is in a lovely quiet area next to a Reserve with lots of trees and greenery. It is only a few kilometres to the City and Domestic/International Airport and the northern beaches. It is on the bus route direct into Cairns. There are some nice walking trails close by and a cycle path. It is very close to the Botanical Gardens, public swimming pool, tennis courts and library. There is a wine bar and Cafe near by.
I have a nice garden and patio to enjoy and a beautiful dog which is very friendly (Dalmatian). She lives outside in her own spacious area but loves to greet guests if allowed.
The second bedroom (Bedroom2) has large built-in wardrobe, casual chair, queen bed, bedside lamps, ceiling fan and is air conditioned. There is a bar fridge with tea/coffee making. A T.V. for personal use. Shared bathroom with bath tub/shower and separate toilet/vanity.
The self contained double bedroom (Bedroom 1) has queen size bed, built-in large wardrobe, mirror, ceiling fan. This room has own bathroom, lounge, full size fridge/freezer, microwave, oven and electric cook top, tea/coffee making, cutlery, pots, dishes, glassware and dining table. Sliding patio door to outside area.
Facilities for laundry washing provided with outside clothes line for drying. Both rooms have own entrance.
I am available at the weekend and if required, act as Tour Guide to show my visitors the surrounding area, beaches, lagoon, night markets and Kuranda and Port Douglas.
I am sure you would have an enjoyable time and experience staying at Butterfly Haven.

A wonderful host - thank you for having us in your beautiful home. We stayed for a week in the separated apartment with private bathroom. The place is nicely decorated with everything you could need and feels personal and secluded from the rest of the house. Barbara is amazing and will gladly assist with any questions or problems, but just as importantly - she also won’t bother you & will leave you to enjoy the place. Thank you so much for a lovely stay

I stayed in the smaller room two for 7 nights and enjoyed my stay. The room was more spacious than I was expecting and it was not a problem at all sharing the bathroom with host Barbara. It is nice to be surrounded by lots of trees and greenery and throughout the day from the room you will see and hear brush turkeys wandering through the bushland over the back fence. Although quiet at night there is quite a bit of aircraft noise from roughly 6am to 9pm each day due to proximity to the airport. The driveway up to the house is quite steep and if you plan on regularly driving out you may find it easier to park down on the road just outside the front electric gates. Though when you do go up the driveway there is room to park just around the corner and only a few metres from the room's private entrance. Guests need to use their own phone data to get online and you can get good speeds with Optus but very poor data speeds with Telstra. The small fridge in this room does not have a freezer compartment but there will likely be a small amount of space to put some things in kitchen freezer. Guests are encouraged to make use of the kitchen whenever they require it. Barbara is a very kind and accommodating host who will take the time to chat with guests and will do what she can to make you feel welcome in her home.

We stayed here for a week when we came to Cairns. The room was absolutely lovely, clean, reasonably priced and with all the amenities you could possibly need. Barbara was the perfect host. We would definitely recommend staying here!

I have loved my stay here with Barbara...so much ...that I have extended my stay.
From the welcome drink on arrival, Barbara is the most generous host and I would have no hesitation in recommending this homestay to anyone considering it.
The room is very well equipped and beautifully presented. It is situated in an ideal position...access to the city or northern beaches are within a short drive.

Nice house, very good and big room fitted with everything you need. Very friendly and helpful host. She took me to a tour ro Kuranda. I loved our chats in the evening.
The public bus is not so nice. It departs just a short stroll from the house, but rarely every 30 minutes or in the evening or sundays once per hour. And when you return do not forget to tell the driver to stop at "Whitfield street", because in this direction there is no busstopsign.I recommend this accomodation.

When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. When can I share my contact details?
