Hi, I am Alix. I am English, but have been living in Madrid for over 20 years. I am lucky to have an amazing job supporting charities and non profits all over the world. I have three children, two of whom are at university in the UK, and the most handsome Labrador, Watson. We're a bilingual family, fluent in English and Spanish.

Our house is a newly built family home situated in a peaceful historic colony with a beautiful garden and swimming pool. Very well situated, just a 5-7 minute walk to Plaza Castilla, Chamartin train station, shops, bars and restaurants. Bus or metro easily straight into the centre of Madrid in 20 minutes. The large studio-style bedroom - living room - study with walk-in wardrobe, is very spacious with lots of light and a private bathroom.

House Rules

While staying with us we hope you won't mind the following house rules:
1. Feel free to take off your shoes when you come into the house.
2. During the summer months, please keep the outside blind in your bedroom at least 80% down during the day to keep the sun out and the house cool.
3. The house has an internal air filtration system which means there is no need to open the windows for ventilation. The windows tilt and turn, so if you would like to ventilate the walk-in wardrobe turn the handle 180 degrees (only possible in one direction) and then tilt the window inwards. If you do open a window please don't forget to close it before leaving the room for safety and to keep the temperature optimal. Please make sure the stick is in place if you wish to leave the French doors ajar, for security. The stick when in place makes it impossible to slide the door completely open.
4. Keep the French doors as closed as possible when outside by the pool to keep the hot or cold air out of the house.
5. If no one is in the house when you go out, please double lock the front door.
6. Close doors gently, i.e. do not slam doors shut.
7. Bring glasses and water bottles to the kitchen from your bedroom to be washed and refilled.
8. When you check-out, please don't forget to leave the house keys on the dining table.

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

When do I pay?

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
