We use a charcoal grill for cooking! We can teach you how to cook like a local using this method.

My name is Floncy. I live in Livingstonia with my husband, Kondwani and our son, Utukuf. We grew up in this beautiful town, and we can't wait to share it with people from all over the world. We also run a charity in the village called RISE FOR PHOKA and welcome volunteers!

I am a good cook and housekeeper so you can enjoy eating and learning how to cook typical Malawian meals in the comfort of our house. My house is your home away from home.

About the Area

Livingstonia is a lovely plateau town that overlooks Lake Malawi and the mountains of Nyika National Park. It is home to Livingstonia University and several fascinating living historical sites such as Livingstonia Mission Church, the David Gordon Memorial Hospital, and the Stone House Museum. Strolling around the town, you'll find beautiful views of small-scale farms (including lots of adorable goats and chickens) many local cafes, eateries, bars, and a craft coffee shop. The area boasts many wonderful activities such as hiking, waterfalls, coffee tours, historical town tours, and more.

Unforgettable homestay! This is the ultimate place to immerse yourself in Malawi culture. This community is a true village, with closeknit connections and opportunities to meet many locals. The hosts are a young family, and they are incredibly kind. We opted for full board, which was amazing. Floncy is a wonderful cook, and we enjoyed learning how to make traditional dishes with her and chatting with the family during meals. Livingstonia is an awesome town to explore on foot (always something happening, as it is a university town). The family also runs a community-based organization that is helping local elders, and we really enjoyed volunteering with them. We have been traveling for 8 months, and this was one of our overall favorite places!

We are so delighted to have hosted our first wonderful guests from homestay.com. Lila and Trevor, are amazing guests-how we wish they had stayed for long. They looked after our house so well and 10/10 observed house rules. We became one big family. Apart from just staying at our local homestay, they also offered themselves help at our community organization where they have left tremendous impact for the present and future running of the organization. We will always be indebt, you've given more than we deserved. May you do more for all your future hosts.. All the best, hope to see each other again in future.
