We were given a great price and I loved our host who identified when we arrived as "Media" not Miriam so I was confused, or maybe my hearing is worse than I realize. She and her daughter Patricia made great hosts. They were more than hospitable. Excellent breakfasts, with strong coffee just as we requested and at the early hours we requested.
Although I speak minimal Spanish, and no Cuban Spanish, and my travelling companion even less, we managed to communicate as their English met us halfway.
Our first evening there, Patricia walked us to a rooftop Paladare/home restaurant that was delicious and with a sunset view. We got lost a block away on our way back, but neighbors were friendly and redirected us.
Media made arrangements for a trusted taxi driver to take us to the beach, Playa Ancon, the following day. Our taxi driver Xavier was more than punctual both going and returning and of course drove a classic 50's auto for a very fair price of 10cuc each way. Miriam also gave us fruit to take to the beach and made sure we had plenty of water.
On another day we picked up a bike-taxi about 2 block away who took us to the potter's which would have been an extremely long walk to and from, if we'd even been able to find it...my google maps didn't work there.
Although the walk to Plaza Mejor is many blocks and uphill (especially for 2 senior women), on narrow sidewalks or the most cobbled of cobblestone streets I've ever been on, it was a pleasant walk back and forth thru the neighborhood each day, gave us a real feel for the people of Trinidad, their small businesses, fruit and vegetable stands, meat markets, art galleries, nursery schools, horse drawn cart vendors etc.
We heard the classic call of the pan/bread seller and saw him pass each morning from our gated porch.
One afternoon when my travelling companion went home for a nap as she was suffering from some heat exhaustion, she got hungry and asked for bread for which she gave our hosts a cuc to purchase some, Miriam's husband Lopez went out and bought bread while Miriam cooked up some fresh fried plantain for her.
Our beds & bedrooms were comfortable, once we turned on the air conditioning. The tiled floors were cool. The bathroom clean and the shower water hot with a good flow. We took advantage of sitting on the porch and watching Trinidad residents coming and going both early morning and late evening.
We were there in the last days of April and it was extremely hot, so be aware of that when making travel plans. Also the breakfasts, unlike other casa particulars/hostels we stayed at in Cuba, is not included in the Homestay price, but is entirely reasonable, home-cooked and abundant.
Our hosts at our request made a call to our "Particular" host in Havana for us to assure us of our return taxi and room reservation our last night in Cuba.
By end of stay I felt very close to Media/Miriam and her family. We bonded. In spite of verbal communication limitations and even though we were rarely there except to sleep and eat breakfast we connected on a human level, as we asked about their families and they ours. (Patricia has a 2 yr old and a 12 yr old sons, Miriam's grandsons, so consider taking small gifts for them if you stay there.) We laughed over shared perspectives
While we waited in the morning for our taxi van to return us to Havana, we shared photos of our families.
I highly recommend this hostel for sociable visitors who aren't in need of high end design/accoutrements, who appreciate the simplicity and hospitality of good people. But I am also confident that our hosts would respect those who preferred less interaction.

The house was clean but quite dark, the window of the bedroom looked onto a back yard so we couldn't easily open our curtains from a privacy perspective. It was about a 6-10 minute walk into the old town and square.

I can not rate Miriam and her family highly enough!! Four of us rented this house which is very close to the main squares in Trinidad.
It is right beside Miriam's family home so she is at your disposal at all times. She is full of local knowledge and will organise anything you ask.
I actually fell very ill while in Cuba (possibly due to the water). Miriam and her family looked after me as if i was one of them. She called in hourly to check on me, checked my blood pressure, made me chicken soup etc.... She is a lovely genuine lady!! I can't thank her enough.

... Ella es una auténtica señora encantadora !! No puedo agradecerle lo suficiente.
