The house is just 100 meters from the beach in a residential neighborhood, it is two stories and my mother, my brother and I live there. The house is spacious, has a mango tree in the yard and an anon tree in the garden. We have two dogs and two cats. The neighborhood is 10 minutes from the walled city and 5 minutes from the airport by public transport. There are two bus routes from 5 am to 9 pm and abundant taxi service. The neighborhood is quite safe and the neighbors very friendly and quiet. The beach is extensive and in it they practice water sports such as kite surfing and jet sky, it is also perfect for swimming in the mornings. My mother (Flor) spends her free time embroidering and painting pictures. My brother (José) has musical inclinations and I dedicate my free time to read, talk, watch movies, walk, swim and when I have the opportunity to travel.

Luis Carlos and his family were very welcoming. I had never visited Cartagena and he showed me around, gave me helpful advice, and explained the history and other stories to me. Was always ready when I had a question. Highly recommend.

You're in good hands! Warm, friendly, and accomodating hosts. Luis gave us a tour of his neighborhood our first day, he was eager to share information about Colombia, and offered great travel advice. I thoroughly enjoyed our chats over breakfast. Breakfast was always plentiful and tasty. If you like cats and dogs, this is a good place to stay. Conveniently located close to the airport and accross the street from Playa Azul :)

Superb hosts. Older reviews and posted pics are accurate. It’s clean, the beds are good, and the AC in the rooms works well. Lovely patio. It’s quiet at night. Laundry is easy to do. The neighborhood felt safe and the beach across the street is a nice one that is not crowded like many others. It has restaurants. A small market and pharmacy are close by. Buses are frequent and it’s a short, easy ride to the center.

I highly recommend this homestay. Luis and his family were perfect hosts and the home was comfortable and clean. Luis and his family patiently helped me practice my Spanish. They cooked wonderful and healthy breakfasts every day and served me mango juice from the mango tree in the backyard. They helped me with things I needed around the city as well. It was simply everything I could have wanted out of a homestay. One potential area for improvement could be that there is no hot water (mostly not needed in Cartagena´s climate, but occasionally was sorely missed).

Great hosts. Luis has shown us the loveliest parts of Cartagena and explained a lot of things. The house was very clean. The family invited us to eat with them and helped to organise a trip to islas del Rosario. Would definitely stay with them if again in Cartagena!

It was a wonderful stay with a wonderful family. I can only recommend this warm-hearted family to everyone. Luis accompanied me to the centre and to a foundation. He always gives good advices. Answers any question which comes up to your mind. Felt comfortable and well taken care of. Muchisimas gracias por todo!

I had a wonderful week with this lovely family. Luis and his mum are both so kind and helpful. My room and bathroom were great, both large, and the house was interesting and exhibited his mum’s beautiful art work.

To be honest, when I first saw a 5 star rating for this family I was very skeptical. I thought to myself 'how could there be so many reviews with 5 stars, they are human (lol)?' I now know why this family has 5 stars and if I could give them 100, I would. They are absolutely amazing! It was a PERFECT stay and I could not have asked for a more helpful gracious family. It's actually unbelievable. I appreciate you all so much Luis for everything! When and if I come back to Cartagena I hope you have a room available for me :)
How do I book?
Contact the host about your stay - tell them a little about yourself, why you are staying and ask any questions you have about their homestay. You will be able to book immediately after sending your message.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
