We are very happy to have you come live in our home while you are studying in Vancouver. Our wish is that you feel very welcome and a part of our family. We are here to help you learn our customs and language.
We would like to tell you a little about us. Our names are Allan and Lily Montana. We have been married 29 years and moved to this wonderful home in December, 2022. We have two children, Lindsee (27) and Hans (16). We also have a new addition, a 6 weeks old puppy named Pucok.
We have been a Host Family for about 19 years and have enjoyed so many young people from all over the world – maybe even as many as 90 to 100 students. In 2005, we started hosting students and continues it throughout the years. We have upgraded and moved three times and we always brought our students along with us.
Lily and I are both Registered Nurses, she work in Medical and Surgical Unit at Royal Columbian Hospital, while I works in Mental Health and Substance Use under Vancouver Coastal Health. Lindsee is also in Health Care, she is self employed as a Registered Massage Therapist.
We would like to share with you about the most important thing in our lives. We are religious and goes to church 2x a week. We also hold offices in our congregation. Bible Studies and propagations are sometimes held in the house.
Once again, we are happy to welcome you to Vancouver, BC. We consider it our privilege to have you here and to assist you in every way that we can.

Our house is located 5 mins walking to a major transportation hub. Sky train and bus stations. Pharmacy and medical clinics are also in the vicinity.

Meals
Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

House Rules:
Breakfast:
- Continental breakfast is serve in the morning like hot/cold cereals, toasted bread or sandwich and instant noodles. The meal is available any time in the morning.
Lunch:
- For students with 3 meals, lunch is available in the fridge with your name on it. It if happens that you don’t need lunch for the next days, kindly inform me by text or call.
Dinner:
- Dinner is ready around 6:00 to 7:00 PM. PLEASE let me know if you are not able to make it.
COOKING is not allowed for safety reason.
FRIDGE –. To store food, please use the fridge in the basement or lanehouse. Label your food to avoid confusion and do not eat food in the fridge that does not belong to you.
Laundry - ONCE a week laundry (Friday,Saturday or Sunday). Please hang it yourself to dry. (NO DRYER).
KEYS – Keys will be provided individually, any lost keys will be charge directly to students.
PLEASE LOCK THE DOORS WHEN YOU GO IN AND OUT THE DOOR.
Household Chores – PLEASE wash your own dishes thoroughly after use.
You will be responsible in maintaining your room clean and tidy. Any damage that occurs will be charged directly to student.
Light – DON’T forget to turn off the lights that you turned on after you use, in areas, like bedroom,
bathroom, dining room, hall ways and other common areas.
Heating – Please do not self-regulate the thermostat for heating.
Water Sprinkler: Please do not touch or hang anything on it.
CHECK OUT – Please clear all your garbage and return the keys.
No visitors or sleep over allowed for everyone’s safety.
Bathroom – do not leave toiletries or belonging on the counter and keep it clean. Only 10 minute showers

Smoking Rules
Your host is a non-smoker.
Smoking is not allowed.
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
