About the Homestay
Our house is located in the nicest subdivision in Gatineau-Hull. It is a unique architectural house constructed after our own plans. We are just 12 min from the Ottawa center by car, 25-35 min by direct bus. There is a bus stop 5 min away. We have bikes, some skis and skates for guests and the most incredible nature all around us. Our subdivision is quiet, but well equipped with stores of all kinds.
We are a family with 3 adult kids (two older are now out of the house, youngest is a student at Ottawa University). We all speak French and English.
My husband and I work from home, so we have time for our guests. We love skiing, hiking, art, outdoors, cooking, gardening and of course music. All our kids play musical instruments, our youngest son practice piano daily.
We have a beautiful house with a big garden just one street away from the Gatineau Provincial Park and with bike paths leading to the center of the city.
We LOVE and do a lot of sports. Cross-country skiing is my favorite. We have access to ski and bike trails starting just across the street. In winter it can be as cold as -35C early in the morning and in summer as hot as +35C in the afternoon! Skating is a must here! Especially on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa (the largest skating rink on earth). Nearest downhill ski center is 15 min away by car.
We have hosted many times and love it. If you are our guest, you become part of our family. We are interested in guests who want to create lasting friendships.
We have mandatory meal plan as we enjoy very much to eat and talk with our guests. Especially evening meal is a wonderful time to get together while enjoying a good meal.
We offer discount for guests staying longer than 6 months. Rebate is given the last month of the agreed stay. We have lots of experience with hosting students (secondary school, undergraduate and graduate university program).
We are looking forward to meet you…

I recently had the pleasure of staying with Romi's family in their homestay, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience that I'll never forget. From the moment I arrived, Romi and her family made me feel like a part of their family. They were always invested in making sure I had everything I needed, from providing me with home-cooked meals to showing me around the local area and introducing me to their friends and neighbors. Overall, I had an absolutely wonderful time staying with Romi's family. If you're looking for a warm and welcoming homestay experience, I highly recommend this family.

If you are looking for an amazing Homestay in Gatineau then look no further than the Caron family! I stayed with them for 4 months and it was a magnificent experience! Romi and Harris are excellent hosts and wonderful people! The house and surrounding area are beautiful and there is always something to do. I will always be grateful for my time spent there and hope to return myself one day!

Romi's homestay in Gatineau really was a comfortable home, filled with such love and fun. There was good light everywhere, on all 3 levels, due to the everpresence of skylights ! Their back yard was inviting , with such a beautiful flowering garden that came out in full display in May. You could sit out in the sun on the backyard patio and enjoy your morning coffee or walk down the backyard trail and feed the chickens with Romi. A trail leads through a wooded area to the back of the property and you can spot deer roaming there and even a red fox, on a rare occasion ! I consider it the "Best Homestay in the World", because the family say "Our home is your home" and they really demonstrate this, even to the point where you can come and turn on the T.V. in their family room upstairs, as long as you put on headphones so it doesn't bother anyone else. You would sit down to have dinner with the family most evenings and help with setting up the table and/or cleaning up the table/the kitchen after the meal and load the dishwasher. As the saying goes; "Many hands make light work." All the homestay guests were welcome to join in on family dinner parties as well and meet their family friends. I really enjoyed singing a grace in French at the beginning of special family meals. They encourage you to speak in their native tongue, French, at meals and this way you get the full cultural experience. I mainly just loved how this family made me feel so welcome and happy, living in their home and it was a full experience because they let me store my bicycle and nordic & alpine skis in their garage too, so I could engage in local sports with my own equipment. particularly loved walking up to Gatineau Park from their home and skiing the trails. That was super ! I would love to come back to visit this family again sometime and catch up on their family news.

Romi is literally my favorite person in canada. When I first came canada, I have no job, I don't know what I'm gonna do and somitimed depressed. But she always care about me like my mom and when I back home, she always ask me "Are you hungry?" This sentence always fill my heart and feel "I am not alone in canada."
If I have more time, I would love to spend more time with this family. Merci, my canada's mom!
And harris. He always consider my feeling .and smiling for me, And sometimes give me real good advice and answer everything i am curious about. I'm gonna Really miss you both, Yarn. His playing is perfectly fill my heart ,relaxing, I just like him so much,
Romi's family is gorgeous beautiful family in the world. If I have a chance, I will definitely visit this house again, chao!January 2022
I can confidently argue that Romi and Harris are the most hospitable and amicable homestay family in the world. I absolutely enjoyed and rejoiced every single day in their house. Although I'm not studying in Ottawa anymore, I plan to stay in their house again just to get the same lovely experience.

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful my time with Romi and her family was. They went out of their way to make sure that I felt at home and a part of their family. Romi is a captivating person with amazing stories and a tremendous heart, and she also took the time to help me improve my French language skills. I feel as though I have made some tremendous lifelong friends as a result of my time with Romi’s family, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for an enriching experience in the Gatineau region.

Romi, Harris and their kids are one of the nicest and lovable people i've ever met! When you go there you are a part of the family and not just someone who lives there. I stayed in Gatineau for about 5 months and found a 2nd family in them :) Everyone in the house is super supportive if you have any questions and loves talking and getting to know new people so don't be afraid and just be yourself I promise they'll love you! I had one of my best times there and will for sure come back for to visit :)
