My husband and I live in a detached house, with our Labrador and enjoy a fantastic view over Whiteness Voe, in rural Shetland. We are 7 miles from Lerwick, and although it is advisable to have your own transport, we are also on a bus route ( please note, no buses on Sundays ) An ideal base from which to explore the island, whether it be to the far Northern island of Unst, the cliffs at Sumburgh or Echaness, or just enjoying wandering the quaint lanes in Lerwick. There are spectacular views within a few minutes walk of our house ( bring suitable footwear!) We are just a short drive local amenities and beaches. Mike is a keen fisherman, and has worked locally for many years, and we are both very happy to help with local information. We are sure you will love the island as much as we do!
We offer a very comfortable double room with a separate shower room for your exclusive use, ( we also have a single room available) Leaflets about the many places to eat and visit are in your room. Tea and coffee making facilities also provided in the bedrooms.
You are welcome to use our sitting room , to relax , read or watch TV. We offer use of our kitchen by prior arrangement.
We offer a continental breakfast consisting of fresh coffee/ tea and home made bread, and a selection of fruits, fruit juices and yoghurts.
We do have a dog , she's a very friendly Labrador.

About the Area
Shetland is home to the current popular BBC1 drama series ' SHETLAND' and some of the filming was done in this area. There are two other detached houses near us, both are quiet but friendly neighbours. There is a rocky beach within walking distance but bring appropriate footwear as it can get boggy. The nearest restaurants are in Lerwick and Scalloway. You will find a Shetland eating guide with recommendations and a map in your room. The Whiteness shop is within walking distance a mile away and stocks most items, and the Weisdale shop and Post Office is 3 miles away. If you would like to use our kitchen to cook, you are very welcome - please ask first tho!
We would recommend you have a car for travel altho there is a bus into town a few times a day . Car hire is available from Lerwick. We have plenty of space for parking ( we do have a steep drive, just to warn you!) Most of our guests find hiring a car gives them more flexibility and freedom to make the most of their time on the island.

Anna Mike and Tess were always very kind. I had a really great stay.

The accomodation which is very comfortable and well-kept is situated in a superb position looking down on Voes and islands. Being from Shetland, the scenery was nothing new to me, but I am certain that visitors would be knocked back by it.
Having said that, I should try to be really negative, so that there is plenty of accomodation available so that we can return for longer ! But can't do that, so we will be taking our chances and hoping to return next year for longer...we will just book early !
Anna and Mike are very relaxed and pretty much you do your own thing. It was easily the pleasantest accomodation I had used when coming up to visit over many years. So I am not over-egging it. Hope you enjoy your stay also. Les.
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) and a 25% deposit using a choice of payments: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal. The deposit is collected in advance on behalf of the host to protect against no show or late cancellations (within 7 days of arrival). You then pay your host the balance due on arrival. The 25% deposit payment is made to the host 2 business days after your scheduled arrival date. This deposit payment will only be refunded if you cancel the booking at least 7 full days prior to arrival.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
