Fernhill is our home built out of the remnants of Old Pietermaritzburg. As a family, we believe in the redemptive gift of the second chance and this can be seen in the reuse of once-loved windows, front doors, the staircase, floor and ceiling boards and antique furniture gathered from once majestic homes and buildings around our city. Geoff is an avid collector of once-loved classic cars, bikes, engines and tractors and he is known around town not only as The V-8 Man but as an artist who can breathe life once again into dead vehicles. Jenni is an artist, teacher and coach and is happy to organise creative retreats or painting lessons on request. Our flatlets offer double beds, kitchenettes and bathroom-ensuite with showers. We also have a double room inside the house which has full access to the kitchen and its own bathroom. We have a communal lounge and patio area and access to a large garden filled with naturally growing tree ferns. While the flatlets are equipped for self-catering, a light breakfast is served to guests and meals can be arranged with pleasure on request at additional cost. For the more adventurous, storage for bikes and trailors is available and washing bays can be arranged.

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
