This was one of the best stays I've ever had, and I've had a lot of good ones over many years. Bertha and her family were awesome and the food was fantastic. The location was ideal--near everything. It was safe, quiet at night, and clean. And it is a little green oasis in the middle of the city, complete with a garden. The room is on the smaller side with no outside window, but it has an inside window and gets more than sufficient light from a skylight in the hallway. It has a good bed and closet space. For the price I thought the room was really very good. The bathroom has good water pressure and is spotless. The family helped with everything I needed. They were generous with their time and really knowledgeable. This place will work for all kinds of travelers, from students who might need a little more care to really independent types.

If I could rate my experience with Bertha and her family more than 5 stars, I would. I spent 4 months living with Bertha and have nothing but amazing things to say. Her family and hospitality truly made my experience down there. You will be greated with open arms by Bertha and her family, as well as two loving pups that I miss every day! Breakfast is included with the option for lunch and dinner for an additional cost, and I highly recommend you take this opportunity. I ate almost all of my meals in house and have never been better fed in my life!
The house is very comfortable in an amazing location. You can walk to anything you need in Miraflores, even the beach! My room was the perfect size and I was more than comfortable the entire time.
If you are looking for a place to stay in Lima, Bertha's should be #1 on your list.

I lived at Bertha’s house for one semester (4 months) and I had the best time. Bertha, Jhesu and Christy took me into their family and it felt like home after no time. We had so many good conversations, laughs and experiences. I also got to know more about Peruvian culture and they helped me a lot with my Spanish. Bertha is also an amazing cook. She prepared all kinds of Peruvian and other dishes. If you are going to stay in Lima, I don’t think there's a better place.

Oh where to start - I had the best month staying with Bertha and her family. From the very beginning they were so warm, open, helpful and easygoing that I felt at home right away. You can tell immediately that they truly enjoy having guests and it comes all naturally to them. The time we spent together leaves memories I'll always cherish - the outstanding (and I mean outstanding!) breakfasts and lunches, trips to the beach, market, national theatre... After one month, I'm really sad to leave and look forward to coming back. I'm not only grateful for this wonderful stay in Lima but because I got the chance to get to know these truly good people. So if you look for a family to stay with that's fun, warm, leaves you all freedom but takes you in as if you belong, don't miss the chance to meet them.
On a last note, Bertha's house is beautiful and has a great location in Miraflores, quiet but close to the main street. For me as female solo traveller that was great, making it way safer to move around and also come back home late. It couldn't have been better.
Berthi, Jhesu y Christy, mil gracias por todo y nos vemos pronto! Abrazos xx

Bertha and her family were the most loving, heartwarming and welcoming family I have ever met. Staying with them has been the greatest experience and they became part of my family within a very short time. Bertha will spoil you with her ordinary peruvian cuisine and you will experience the deep heart and soul of Peruvian culture. I will recommend anyone to stay with Bertha, the house is very clean, the room for guests very big and comfortable and located in the center of Miraflores where you have everything you need very close by. Even to the shore and to the beach it is only a few minutes walking. I am very lucky and thankful to have chosen Bertha and will definitely return and stay with them again!
