About the Area
I am honoured to welcome you to the holy land of Lalibela and to host you at my home. There is no better way to experience our Ethiopian culture than to live within it.
Our house is a 10 minute walk away from the famous rock-hewn churches, a UNESCO world heritage site.
I am a tours and trekking guide and provide many different walks catered to each individual's interests/time; from day treks to see the geladas also known as open heart baboons to 3 or 4 day treks taking on Abune Yosef - Ethiopia's third highest peak!
There are many things to do in Lalibela that most tourists don't realise until they come, and many wish they had stayed longer!
- the old village to try local beer
- traditional honey wine (tej) house's where you can enjoy our region's traditional dance and music
- ethiopian cooking lessons
- the football stadium, where often different villages come to play each other
- large village market, every Saturday selling everything: local honey, livestock, clothes, jewellery etc.
I am sure you will have an unforgettable stay with many new friends made!
