Welcome! We have been hosting international guests for years. Twin bed in a good-sized (female only room) bedroom on the main floor near the front door so you can come and go with independence. There is a desk, dresser and closet.
There are just myself and my teen daughter at home (my daughter is home only half time), so bathroom and kitchen sharing is easy. You also have your own little fridge and food storage and preparation space in the kitchen.
This is a quiet and safe neighbourhood truly almost downtown- a half hour walk or bus is a 3-minute walk away and goes directly downtown in 10 minutes. Streaming channels like Netflix and Discovery. We have a really nice dog who will love you.
1 block to bike trail, cafe, bakery and grocery is a 10 minute walk.
My daughter is fluently French-speaking, with after school activities and completing an accelerated program at school so she is very quiet but may play the piano sometimes! If you play piano you are welcome to. My other daughter has gone off to University in Europe at the age of 17- so I understand what it’s like to have your child suddenly leave you…Get in touch!
A few words and clarity regarding payments and cancellations-
Please understand that we respectfully request the following payment schedules:
1. For one month long stays: full payment is required at lease one month in advance or at the time of booking, if less than one month in advance, or if you wish to ensure payment is completed, and is accepted by etransfer.
The host will provide the etransfer email when connected by homestay.com following the booking process being completed.
2. For stays more than one month, full payment for the next month’s stay is required on the 15th of the previous month.
3. For stays less than one month, full payment is required at the time of booking.

Cancellation
It is our desire to serve those who need and want to stay with us, in a fair way.
Also please understand that we largely complete these bookings on a monthly basis and those stays most often begin on the first of the month.
For this reason please be fully aware that if you need to cancel a booking we understand and can offer a refund for a cancellation which we receive
a) which we receive more than 1 month before a scheduled stay, and,
b) when the cancellation is received by the first day of the month preceding your booking.
This allows for others who wish to stay the opportunity to plan to do so.
In this case, we will offer a full refund less an 15% administrative fee based on the total amount of your **payment.
**Payments, to be eligible for refunds, must have been successfully received in the host’s account and Would be issued within 15 days after confirmation of the payment and refund decision.

About the Area
Our home is in a very quiet neighborhood which is also just 2km from the Victoria inner harbour. There is a school yard on one side of us and 3 blocks to the harbour where there are beautiful seaside walks.
The Gorge Waterway is 2 blocks away, on the Galloping Goose bike and walking trail.
There is summer swimming in the Gorge and beautiful trees. There is a kayak launch, beach and swimming access within 2 blocks.
There is grocery shopping within 5 blocks, as well as take out, and medical seevices. The neighborhood was built in 1911 and had plenary of heritage houses. Our house was built in 1950 and rounded character ceilings in every room. We have an antique upright grand piano and a sewing machine in the livingroom.
We have a garden in the backyard which you are welcome to try your skills in. We also have a trampoline in the backyard.

Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

The host cancelled the booking 2 days before the arrival date.
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
