I don't have much homestay experience but the ones I have had since being in Canada have been great. They are so much better than hotels which I find really impersonal
When I travel to a new place, besides getting to know the city, I like to get out of the tourist area and get to know places that only local people know about and go to, like bars, restaurants, parks, beaches and feel a little more of the local culture. You know the gems only the locals know about? That's where I like to go.
I moved around Dawn's home with ease. Dawn cleared a space in her fridge so I was able to keep some of my own food and drink. We stopped off for takeaway some days so it was nice to know the best places for some of the food.
