About the Homestay
We live in what we think is one of the best neighborhoods of San Diego. Our house is on the border of North Park and trendy South Park. We are walking distance to all the amenities of both neighborhoods and a quick drive to the airport, beaches, and parks. We live on a dead end street with a canyon as our backyard so it is very quiet and safe. We even have hiking trail access from our backyard into the canyons which we use often with our toddler son and our active dog.
My husband is from Southern California and I'm from New England. We met as international hiking and biking guides and we put roots down in San Diego over 3 years ago and got a dog Maple. Maple loves everyone and her fur is hypo-allergenic - she doesn't really shed. We also welcomed our first child in June 2017 and he is now a running toddler that keeps us very busy. I am a Spanish teacher and my husband owns a grilled cheese catering business in San Diego. We basically work all week with our son in daycare and like to be as active as possible on the weekends. We would absolutely love to finally be able to host someone from another country after we have been treated with nothing but amazing hospitality from our international travels. My family growing up also hosted exchange students and it is one of the reasons I fell in love with Spanish and became a Spanish teacher.
The homestay room is a large bedroom and closet with lots of air/natural light, and we have a window unit for air conditioning. There is a bathroom right outside of the bedroom. We do not use that bathroom much - we just use it to bathe our son because we have our own bathroom and shower in our master bedroom. We also said in our profile that we "do not provide meals" but we cook our dinners most night in the week and we absolutely would invite you to join us for dinner if we are cooking a big dinner.
Outside, we have an entire patio with table and chairs overlooking the canyon to eat our meals outside whenever we want. We also have ample parking for a car and a safe space to store a bike if need be! We look forward to hearing from you and learning about where you are from in the world!

About the Area
We are in the trendy neighborhood of North park and very close to the equally trendy neighborhood of South Park in San Diego. We are 5 minutes from the world famous Zoo and Balboa park and about "15-20 minutes" from anything you would ever want to see or get to in San Diego - especially the ocean! While you can walk or bike easily to cafes, restaurants, and a local brewery, we live on a quiet cul-de-sac with a canyon as our backyard. It's a truly wonderful location!
