About the Area

We live in a beautiful forest in the center of the LA/Orange Country metroplex. We are about 20 minutes from Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm is closer. Everyone has heard of Disneyland, but the rides and shows at Knotts are just as good, and I think it will cost a lot less money. (In my opinion, small children want to go to Disneyland, but teens seem to like Knotts better, my opinion.) If you are a nurse/medical professional we are very close to Whittier Hospital, an easy 5 minute drive. It will take about 20-30 minutes to drive to the beach, depending on traffic. Downtown LA/Universal Studios is about 30 minutes drive, if you start after 10 am. Hollywood Blvd is on the way to Universal Studios and is even closer. You will never be bored in LA. Bring lots of money. All of the attractions cost money except Hollywood Blvd. (No charge to walk down the street and look at the hand prints of famous people in the sidewalk.) The beaches are also free, but you will have to pay for parking everywhere you go. Our favorite beach is Laguna, but Manhattan Beach is easier to get to. LA is a fantastic place to visit. If you like food, you will be able to find restaurants that serve food from every part of the world. Below is a list of some of the places to visit in LA.

Universal Studios Hollywood.
Griffith Park and Griffith Observatory.
Disneyland Park & Resort.
Hollywood.
The Getty Center.
Petersen Automotive Museum.
Santa Monica Beach & Pier
Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.
Huntington Library (Famous original oil paintings)
There are some fantastic restaurants in LA as well.
There is an outlet mall near us and another one in Irvine.

Bring lots of money...
The only thing that is free in LA is the Beach and Hollywood Blvd., and in both places you have to pay for parking.
If you are traveling to LA from someplace else and don't have a car with you, you will have to rent a vehicle. The public transportation is not very good in LA. In Paris you ride the Metro, but in LA you rent a car. LA is really spread out, so you have to rent a vehicle if you don't drive here in your own car.
