The space
Each guest has access to their own private unit which includes a private bath, and access to the common area which includes all cooking amenities. Oven, stove, microwave, basic cooking ingredients are on hand (spices, salt, some fruits, etc) as well as all commonly required utensils.
Please bring your own food and beverage for full enjoyment.
Guest access
Each guest has access to their unit apartment with private entrance, private bedroom with a private bathroom. Also, a fully loaded outdoor kitchen common area which includes all cooking amenities. General supplies (spices, pots, pans, dishes, etc) are available in the kitchen. Please bring your own food and beverage for full enjoyment.
Interaction with guests
A host will check you in and show you Lavalookout information. Message any questions you have.
Other things to note
it's important to stop at the store or eat out before coming to Kalapana; closest grocery store is in Pahoa or the corner store at Uncle Roberts.
We ask for your understanding of our community during the lava flow fluctuations. Ocean and mountain views are always available. Quiet Isolated lava life for all adventures and travelers. About the Area
Lauren’s home is located in Pāhoa, Hawaii, United States.
Kalapana is unique. Come visit the magic of a 30 year old lava flow with active lava flowing less than 12 miles away. Sit on the porch and watch the glow of Pele or Fissure 8 and Kapoho Ocean Entry Pume.. Even if the lava isn't flowing, this is definitely one of the most unique places on earth. Pahoa, a super awesome little village is 20 minutes away - or run to Uncle Roberts for the stop and shop or nightly night market on Wednesdays (not to be explained - just to be experienced :)).

There is a lovely (clothing optional) black sands beach (kehena) very nearby, where you can often see spinner dolphins and sea turtles in the distance. Although the region is in flux, Puna remains very beautiful.

Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

Not suitable for infants (under 2 years) - Infants are welcome, however we have no specific infant accommodations (baby-gates, playpens etc.) and the house is not baby-proof in any manner.
Check-in is anytime after 4PM and check out by 11AM

The best place I stayed at on this holiday!!! Matt was amazing thank you for your hospitality and your tips. Your home is amazing, so much time and effort placed on it and you can really see that. Also the view was amazing be sure to get there in the day to see everything!!
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
