About the Homestay
Enjoy room with Covid-cautious owner in spacious, beautiful home a few miles from airport. New flooring, walk-in closet, queen futon/bed with spring mattress and desk for laptop. Private remodeled bath next door. Friendly, respectful host is working professional at home, and keeps place quiet. Walkable neighborhood within miles of great parks, including one with spring-fed pools, and of S Austin's cool strolling options.
1,200-sq. foot house close to the airport and on bus lines has guest room and bath on a separate front hallway from owners, and only pet, a parakeet, is on the opposite end of the house. Standing lamp and work desk among other amenities. Complimentary free wifi, and wall-mounted, 30 in. HDTV with a roku device to access several free movie channels or your favorite accounts.
Your home access is by the front doorway, and I will often use garage door access instead during your stay to reduce surface contact. Sprays and hand sanitizer will be available for cleaning kitchen surfaces after preparing food (and doorknobs, etc., as wanted).
I appreciate knowing who the guest is. House rules include having a complete Profile that includes a personal photo that shows your full face (not a pet or anything else), verification that includes "government ID" (which includes driver's license or passport), and responding to questions in advance of booking about reasons for your stay.
No smoking or vaping/heavy perfumes/pets have been allowed in rental rooms, and no smoking/vaping/e-cigs or pets are permitted on property. I take the COVID-19/coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the health and safety of you as a guest, myself, and our families seriously. Proof of most recent, bivalent COVID shot must be provided before arrival. If you have COVID, have flu-like symptoms, or have been in contact within the past week before your visit with anyone who has symptoms or has been diagnosed, you must inform me to discuss the booking, as I will do for you.
I require a short-term rental contract for staying on site, and background check through e-renter.com (would share contract wording before you make the reservation).

About the Area
My house is in SE Austin, with a bus stop that connects with major routes outside the relatively quiet neighborhood (you'll hear a bit of airplane noise at night or early morning, but they do not fly directly overhead, and it's a low rumble). Library and park is about a mile away, major hiking trails, several miles away, and a super grocery store about 3 miles. Downtown is 5 miles away, with several alternative routes to access. There's a Starbuck's and a restaurant right down the street and one of the best Mexican breakfast options, plus great Asian restaurants and a healthy burger joint not far away along E. Oltorf, or Austin's infamous trailer food options within walking distance. Go a bit farther and you have access to the best local source of many craft beers right across Interstate 35. Want something more upscale? Congress Ave. downtown, or 7th street is 10 minutes away with wine bars, a French restaurant and more. Want a relaxing heated outdoor pool swim for free, or to take a dip in Austin's chilly spring-fed pools? I'll tell you those best kept secrets of Texas' capital city too.

With Covid infections increasing, I require proof of negative Covid test that was taken in the three days before move in, getting the new Covid vaccine that becomes available soon within 7 days of availability, and a willingness to self-test for Covid, using a kit that I'd provide, should you develop any flu or cold-like symptoms.
Open access to the living room, kitchen, laundry room, front porch, and back patio as well as the guest bedroom and guest bathroom.
Off-street parking is available. No unbooked visitors on-site without advanced text or email confirmation, which is true for me too. For everyone's protection, we may ask the guest who made the reservation to show a photo ID before check-in, and proof of the most recent COVID vaccine required before check-in.
9 pm sound curfew in Austin and the same indoors. Will keep the night light on in the rental hallway so you can come and go as you, please.
You'll have half the storage space for food in the wide, fridge and on pantry shelves; the microwave and coffee machine, all appliances are available for use. All utensils, glasses, pots, and pans are also available for your use, as well as dishwashing detergent and cleaner for clean up after each meal.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
