Lovely family! Karen and her young children kept themselves to themselves; her husband speaks good English and was keen to help us enjoy Barcelona - thank you! Wi-fi is great and the location - about 1.5km from the major Sant Andreu Arenal metro station - is convenient for getting around the city.
But - and I'm afraid there is a "but"... - the rickety 3-tier bunkbed felt too large for the rather dark room which is dominated by a very large wardrobe. I stayed for a couple of days on holiday with my daughter; as we were sightseeing all day and well into the evening it served our purpose, though had we needed to stay any longer and we'd have moved elsewhere - and certainly, had there been anyone else staying we'd have moved as the room offered absolutely no chance of privacy. On reflection I think Karen should charge for the room with a small additional-guest charge, rather than by each bed - we could have got 2 beds in a mainstream hostel - with additional facilities - for about the same price; charging by the room with a small extra-guest charge would have made it un-missably good value for budget travelers, though at the price we paid, it simply wasn't.
We didn't have any breakfast - on one day we woke to fund nothing laid out and the flat empty - when we asked when we returned to the flat late the next evening there was some confusion; Karen's husband did later offer to make us a light breakfast though we didn't accept, so I can't comment on this.December 2014
Thank you so much!!
