Barcelona is a cultural hub famous for its beaches, beautiful sights and their amazing football team! That aside, it’s also home to some of the best bars in Europe which boast views of the city, beautiful terraces or just a friendly, international vibe. Here’s a shortlist of some of our favourite spots to enjoy a drink after a long day exploring the Catalan capital.

1. Bar Borneo

Bar Borneo is a chilled out bar in the heart of the popular El Born neighbourhood. It has a good balance between locals and those visiting the city. The bar has an enormous collection of gin with over fifty brands in its collection and more than fifteen types of tonic to go with them. In the summer they fold back the windows to let groups sit on cushions along the front steps of the bar and watch the evening go by.

Carrer del Rec, 49, 08003 Barcelona.

“La Bolsa” or stock exchange in English is a bar with a difference. The prices of the drinks rise and fall depending on their popularity! Watch the digital displays behind the bar as the prices change in real time. You’ll find this bar just off Avinguda Diagonal and there are plenty of clubs in the area to move on to.

Carrer de Tuset, 17, 08006 Barcelona.

3. Ocaña

Ocaña is located just off the busy La Rambla in Plaça Reial. This premium bar is more of a tourist spot but they have a huge range of delicious cocktails to choose from and it’s a brilliant place to people watch. The terrace overlooks the busy square and fountain and there are often buskers and dancers performing so it’s definitely worth a visit.

The tiny bar fits 25 people and you’d walk past it if you weren’t on the lookout. The bartenders are incredibly friendly, there are board games for you to play and they even have a guest book filled with messages from various people who have frequented the bar. Try their jam jar mojitos and kick back with some snakes and ladders.

6. Marmalade

This bar has a very cool atmosphere and is right in the heart of El Raval.
