Homestay.com sees average booking value double since pandemic

Homestay.com emerges from pandemic times with a changing customer demographic. While short term stays are still featuring particularly in places such as Cuba and popular city break destinations, Homestay.com welcomes with interest a changing profile of guest booking.

The lifting of mostly all international restrictions in 2022 meant long term stays bounced back, students could resume study abroad programs, interns could get that much needed experience through placements and businesses could resume traineeship programmes.

Aside from international bookings, domestic bookings were on the rise too, driven clearly by the cost of living crisis and the absolute shortage of affordable accommodation options in key cities. Nurses, teachers and students alike are all considering Homestay accommodation as a viable and budget conscious alternative. With options to book Mon-Fri stays, many hosts welcome these types of bookings, allowing them to host during the week, but ensure family down time at the weekends.

Homestays as an accommodation choice have existed for as long as people have traveled. The Homestay.com marketplace launched in 2013, has made it possible for individuals to offer consumers an alternative accommodation option and empower householders to utilize their existing asset to earn much needed additional income.
