Famiglia amichevole quartiere incantevole

Being new to Homestay/BNBs we made a few mistake, but worked it out after a while. Room was quite big, but storage a problem. Wardrobe and drawers were full of stuff and as travellers from Australia on 4 month holiday there was not much room for our stuff. There were some small issues, but don't want to seem petty obout them. We got on well with daughter, Rachel and her husband, Rachel was so bubbly and friendly, a delight to meet her family.
Location was beautiful, so much greenery and trees, like a botanical garden, and just loved all the squirrels all around, but a far walk to restaurants and 10 minute bus to Metro station. Supermarkets were a problem to get to, but that seem prevelant in America if you don't have a car.

Skip any of their three upstairs rent as their 18 yr old heating system does not keep the rooms cool . The walls are hot and after two repairman nothing changed .You will not sleep well . There is an overhead fan but it just moves hot air around . The mother cathy is off on a long vacation to spain The daughter husband and two kids sleep in the cool basement and are awful uncaring hosts . I say this especially about the daughter who resorts to cussing and shouting for No reason at all . I paid cash which was a big mistake . Simply avoid this old house . They never attend to the toilet paper or trash !!!

We had a great time staying at Kathy's home.
We felt very welcome and well-attended from the time of our arrival, all the way to the time of our departure.
We stayed for 5 nights and our room and restroom accommodations were very pleasant.
Since we rented a car, we would arrive very, very late at night and we found it very easy and convenient to get to our room without any inconvenience.
Every night we would end up SO TIRED, and we looked forward to our night sleep because our bed was SO COMFORTABLE.
Our morning breakfast consisted of an assortment of cereals, which was light and enough to get us going until lunch in the city.
Kathy's daughter, Rachel was very, very lovely and ready to accommodate to our sensical needs. Her husband Sean and their lovely son, Adam were very gracious and friendly all throughout our stay.
The whole family stayed very much out of our way in order to provide us with maximum privacy; while at the same time they were very accessible to provide us with valuable sightseeing information, lively conversation and responses to our homestay-related needs.
The family dog, Bonaparte, is also very loving and adores to be petted, but he also stays put and out of one's way.
Additionally, we got to meet their next door neighbors, the Taylor's, and they are a lovely and friendly couple.
Rachel stayed in communication, via text with us, all throughout our stay, in order to make sure that we were fine... even once we got back to our home in California, she stayed in contact in order to make sure that we had arrived well. So beautiful of her.
We highly recommend staying with Kathy and her family.
We certainly will be staying with them anytime we have an opportunity to visit the Washington, DC Area.

I got a very warm welcome from the minute I arrived and treated like one of the family. I also felt comfortable just resting in my room after a long day too. They could not have been more helpful with directions, advice and lending me a screwdriver for my case. I'm sure I could have asked any question and she would have tried her best to help me. It is a lovely area, bed was comfortable, plenty of storage and hanging space for clothes in the room. It is easy to get into Washington or Old Town and I enjoyed my time there. The buses do run all day contrary to an earlier review, they operate a loop route for the middle part of the day instead and runs from the bus stop opposite the normal one, just around the corner from Kathy's. Thank you for my stay in your cosy single room.
