Ghalat Village More Than a Dream!
Ghalat Village is located almost 30 Km from the northwestern side of Shiraz. The city of flowers and poems is already filled and surrounded by gardens and greeneries and Ghalat Village is definitely one of the best of them. Ghalat is an old form of the word village and it means somewhere that has steamed springs and good weather. This village is perfect for those who are tired of traffic jams and sound pollution; you can find absolute peacefulness in this place. You just have to listen to the sound of water that is slowly pure from waterfalls and birds singing or enjoy watching the beautiful and green bushes and trees.
There are three waterfalls in Ghalat Village that are worth visiting. Two of them have easy access, but you might find difficulty reaching the third. Also, you can see two rivers that pass through the village and beside the banks of them you can find local flowers and medicinal herbs, such as thyme and oregano. Don’t forget to take a deep, deep breath to inhale some fresh air into your lungs while you are listening to the sound of water and smelling these aromatic plants. Hiking mountain is another favorite activity that you can consider doing when you are in this picturesque village. You are already 2065 meters above the sea level, imagine how it would feel if you climb higher. Bear the challenging climbing to the mountain, and as a reward, you will see a perfect view of Ghalat Village from the peak.
Apart from the spectacular nature of Ghalat Village, you can also find some historical monuments. An Old Church, watermill, and castle are some of these ancient sites, but unfortunately, you might only see some ruins of them.

Beautiful homestay close to the traditional Village of Ghalat :
Sarah’s place felt home from the first minute of arrival. Her parents welcomed me very warmly. Is a spacious apartment with a marvelous view of the surrounding mountains, very tidy, well-equipped, modern bathroom, perfect winter heating and warm-water supply. Spacious veranda to watch the sunrise.
It takes less than thirty minutes to walk to the old village of Ghalat, somewhat crumbling, but still one of the top sites in Iran. I went there everyday and still could not get enough from that very special ambience.
Sarah’s apartment is a wonderful base for exploring the area. Her parents have been preparing great breakfast and Iranian dinner, and if I would have been staying for more days, inevitably would have grown fatter. They made sure I was always safe and found my way, wherever I went during these days. And Sara always reachable by phone would make sure that there was always answer to my needs and questions.
Will definitely be back and I can recommend this place to anyone who seeks for top level and same time warm-hearted accommodation homestay in Iran. Cordialthanks to Sara and her family.

Sara’s place is neat and well maintained. The view from the terrace especially during sunrise and sunset is spectacular. Communicating with her and her family was also easy. I just wish the place was a little bit closer to Shiraz. Overall a hassle free stay.

This was hands down my best homestay in Iran.
Sara is such a sweet host & we hit it off so quickly that it really felt like visiting an old friend instead of meeting someone new.
It's hard to pick just one thing that what I loved the most about staying with Sara & her family; the warm welcome from her & her parents; or the very easy conversations we had; or the incredibly delicious food everyday; or the large beautiful apartment I stayed at (it was so well decorated, completely private & had the biggest bathroom of all the places I stayed); or the amazing sunrises with the mountains right there every morning.
I truly didn't want to leave when my days were done but I know if ever I go back to Iran, I'm planning to stay about a week with Sarah.

    Hello,
My colleague and me spent 4 beautiful days at Saras house in Ghalat, which is almost 30 km far away from Shiraz. We had our own flat with a big bathroom.
You can go to Shiraz by bus or by Saras Dad.
If you stay in Ghalat, visit the old part of the city , which the most tourists, who are staying only in Shiraz, forget. It´s worth a visit.
Sara and her parents were very friendly and let us pass a beautiful and unforgettable time there. Her dad drove us to Shiraz, Persepolis, they invited us twice for dinner... Delicious...
We stayed over Ashura at Saras house, so the whole family, its a big one :), came and passed a nice time together, so we got lots of wonderful impressions from the iranian culture too.

If I came back to Shiraz/ Ghalat, I would take Sara as a host again. Thanks for this time.

If you want a real Iranian experience. True hospitality. You must stay with Sara and her parents Bahram and Marzieh. The accommodation is a huge self contained unit with the best of everything. I have never seen a bigger bathroom. Beautifully fitted out.
The food here was fantastic. True Iranian home cuisine. You have a patio looking over Bahrams garden with all the fruits and vegetables Marzieh uses in their cooking. The cherry jam at breakfast time ...Wow! The uninterrupted views over the hills with give you beautiful sunrises.
The family took us for a hike into the mountains to see the beautiful waterfalls and our day at Persepolis was awesome. I cannot speak highly enough about our time ..we were very new to Iran and we learned so much from the family.

I can only recommend Sara's place. She and her parents are lovely, they are happy to show guests around in Ghalat and Shiraz as well as to invite them for dinner. The house is new and in a beautiful location, with a view of the mountains. When the garden and the flat are completely finished (with plants, pool etc.) it's going to be even nicer.
Not the best option if you need to be close to Shiraz, but location and host are definitely worth the hassle of a couple of bus rides (very cheap bus to Shiraz 1 minute away). And Sara's father can drive you from/to the terminal/airport for a very reasonable price.
