My Family have been hosting international student from different countries for more than 10 years. We are a family that you can easily get along with us, because we treat you as a part of the family. Our house is close to the bus stop and skytrain station, 10 minutes going to downtown. We close to many restaurant and superstore in our neighboorhood.

About the Area
our house is located close to the skytrain and a very quiet and safe neighborhood, we are close to downtown, 10 minutes by skytrain. 1 minutes walk to bus stop and 5 minutes walk to skytrain. There are a lots of restaurant and store in our neighborhood. The area is full of trendy cafes, restaurant and stores. and close to trout lake park. Accessable of any public transportation.

I only stayed for 2 nights as there was no central heating in my room, only in the kitchen. I guess this may work for some people but was not sufficient for me. I slept with my big ski outdoors jacket on, as the room was freezing cold at night.

I enjoyed staying at Estela's house, she was polite and gave me the space that I needed. The place is well located close to the Nanaimo Train Station and at 30 minutes from downtown. Thanks Estela.

I arrived as a newcomer to Canada and Estela made me feel like I was home, an important thing when you travel so far.
Estela and their family are wonderful people, they will support you in everything you need. They gave me advice, and they even invited me to go to events with them, it was an amazing experience! It is a versatile family, they can get along with you or give your space if you are more of a solitary person.
The place is spacious and clean, and in a very calm neighborhood. You even get a separated kitchen and washroom that is shared with the other tenants.

I found a new friend in the person of Estela. Very accommodating, she tour me around with tourist spots in Vancouver. Her place is very convenient from public transportation to restaurants and shops. It will be my go place when I visit Vancouver again.

The most frustrating and disappointing stay I have ever experienced. First, active area was limited in basement, students didn't get access to tv and entertaining in living room, what I lived is not “homestay”..As for breakfast, simple toast was barely enough, the damn milk no longer offered since 3rd week even I reminded, I bought myself eventually...
I strongly recommend international students who hope a well interaction or communication in English with home family eliminating this one as your consideration ..
fortunately rental is affordable but I would rather spend more in terms of quality...Host reply
I had a terrible experience with this student. He expected that I was going to provide milk or breakfast every single day when he was only paying 20 dollars a day. I really didn't have time to talk to this student because he was coming home very late in the evening, and I was already in bed sleeping. Anyway I hosted so many student for almost 15 years and always received thins only one negative comment from this student. Paying very low and expecting a lot. Where you can find a place in Vancouver where you pay only 20 dollars a day and provide a light breakfast? Anyway, I have so many happy students who always come back and stay in my place.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
