Improve your language skills with a Host Family in London

Samuel, 21 from France wanted to live with a host family to improve his English. He decided to stay with Kait and her family in Belvedere a 35 minute train journey to Central London. Kait, her husband Joe and their daughters provided him with lots of opportunities to practice his English conversational skills. He stayed with them for 3 weeks and didn't want to leave...

Tell us about your homestay experience.

Kait was there everyday to make my journey easier. She took care of me as if I was one of her children. But I also was free to do everything I wanted to do in London. She enabled me to reach my goals, I improved my english skills, mainly in speaking and understanding. That was my main goal for coming to London !

What did you do in London?

I used to go into London almost every day. Almost every museum in London is free, that's incredible. So each day I visited a another museum, it's unimaginable for French people ! Haha

I also visited the famoust sport's one of the best team's arena : the Emirates arena. Football is so important there. Everybody follows their team. I was there for the season start, so everybody were so excited. I saw so many people in pubs crazy in front of tvs.

Any tips or advice for other travellers?

The place I prefered the most was Shoreditch ! This is a very young and lively place. This is the place to be if you are a fashion fan. You can also find a very authentic market, shops along the street and very good food trucks! You will be able to find everything you want there. There is also a lot of clubs and pub for crazy Londoners.

How was your experience with your host?

My host helped me everyday.  She made my journey so much easier. She gave me so many tips. At the beginning London was a bit too big for me, and it was difficult to get around by myself. Luckily Kait was there to help me, and to explain me the underground, overground, buses, and train system.
