Indonesia is made up of over 17,000 thousand islands, making it a perfect destination to explore. We have many fabulous homestays for you to stay in while visiting this beautiful country, so narrowing it down to five was a challenge. Here's our top picks for where you should stay in Indonesia!

1 Putu and Nyoman's villa (Blahbahtuh, Bali)

Putu and Nyoamn's villa is a one of a kind homestay because Putu designed the villa herself! Their home is located on the southeastern coast of Bali, perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation. Samuel and his girlfriend visited Putu and Nyoman from Singapore in order to experience the nature, the animals, and the culture. Samuel wrote in his five star review, "We thoroughly enjoyed the conversations we had with them and the friendship that was extended to us. Definitely hope to see them again!"

One of her goals was to watch the sunrise, which Ika easily organized for her.

4 Surya's traditional Balinese house (Tampaksiring, Bali)

Surya's house is a traditional Balinese house that fully adheres to the traditional value known as "sikut satak." Based on this concept, the house has mrajan (family temple), gedong (north building), bale dangin (east building), bale dauh/loji (west building) and paon (kitchen). Each of these buildings has its own function and the hosts are happy to explain it to guests. Anestis from Switzerland wrote in his five star review, "This place is very, very special. It's difficult and too emotional to describe what happened to us while being [there]... We just can say that they are lovely people in all the possible ways of living life and being, and that there are no words to tribute their hospitality and kinship of openheartedness." Simon from Canada wanted to stay in a homestay in Bali in order to escape the tourists and experience the energy, history, culture, and traditions. In his review, he wrote, "I cannot recommend this homestay enough, especially for those of you who are looking to experience authentic Balinese life outside of the busy tourist areas."

James from Australia refused to let his older age slow him down, so he decided to go on adventure to Bali and experience the hiking trails. He wrote of his trip, "Caroline made me very welcome into her home." Ines went from Belgium to Bali with her 19 month old son and husband. Ines wrote, "This was a perfect beginning of our Bali trip!
