Homestay in Amsterdam

Andrea and his girlfriend Laura from Italy visited Amsterdam in April. They stayed with Homestay hosts Justus and Noor in their double room from only €50 per night. They chose a homestay because of the value for money and wanted to use the kitchen to cook for themselves.

Tell us about your homestay experience.

We feel very well with homestay because it is really easy to book a room and also to communicate with the hosts. We also liked that we payed only a part of the payment to homestay on the site and the other part of the payment when we arrived in the home, directly to host. We didn't have the phone connection but whith homestay it was easy because when the hosts wrote to us we recieved an sms.

What did you do in Amsterdam?

We visited all of the most importat musums in Amsterdam like the Van Gogh museum, the Artis museum, the zoo, the Rembrant house and others. There are a lots of pretty pub and shops, it's a very amazing city. When we were very tired we went to the big park in Amsterdam that is really beautiful and quiet.

Any tips or advice for other travellers?

We think that it's really cheap to do the I amsterdam card because with it you can use all of the buses and trams and to free entry to all of the most important Amsterdam museums. I would also recommend a visit to Keukenhof (the tulips park) and rent a tandem, and go to Zaanze Schans (a really pretty village with little beautiful houses on the water).

How was your experience with your host?

We are Italian so during this experience we wanted to improve our English. Both of the hosts Justus and Noor were very kind.  When we arrived to their home they gave us a little guide written by them with the map, the most beautiful places to go and their favourite restaurants, pubs and locals. They have an Amazing grey cat that is really sweet.
