Freelance photo journalist, Stanley from Malaysia, is a seasoned World Cup fan having worked at nine World Cup Tournaments since 1982. He works as a stringer for the international photo agency Getty Images, capturing sporting events around the world on camera. In fact, it was his love of football that inspired him to make sports photography his career.

“I wanted to be near the sport I love,” Stanley said. “My team is Brazil since 1982. I have many jerseys signed by famous players including Maradona, Pele, Franz Beckenbauer and many more.”

Stanley booked to stay with host Mariana in her homestay in Sao Paolo while working at the World Cup.

“I found Homestay.com on Google. The booking system was very easy to understand and I got a fast response from my host,” he said.

“Mariana was a very good host, the house was quiet and the beach is just 100 metres away. Very nice people.”

Mariana’s homestay is cosy and colourful with a spacious balcony, sea breeze and a hammock to relax in. She lives in a young and friendly neighbourhood, close to Barra da Tijuca beach, where visitors can hire a paddle board or try kite surfing.

“It was a cool place with a big king size bed and a window looking almost at the beach which was great,” said Stanley. “My host, Marianna, was very friendly and helpful.”

“Homestay.com is really efficient and homestay accommodation is more affordable than a hotel. I can also get to know the locals and get a lot of help with places to visit.”

“I will recommend Homestay.com to many of my travel friends, especially freelance journalists, because they will save more money instead of staying in a hotel when covering big events like this one.”
