HOME AWAY FROM HOME -- Large fully furnished private really nice room with built in large robes, king or single bed and all linen provided. Bright,clean centrally heated and air conditioning.
We are a great, friendly, quality charming and gorgeous Aussie style home to stay with Aussie couple. If you are looking to experience an ambience in an Aussie home and not just a place to live (privacy or join in) we are a Large 2 story (5 bedroom) renovated 100 year old "Australiana" home and beautiful (2-1/2 bedroom)cottage at back of our home. Three large bathrooms (shared)
We have no children or pets here, but we love sports and take an interest in everything and love people of all cultures and love to share our relaxed Australian way of life. Check in usually around 10am and check out 9am however we are happy to discuss if you need earlier/later times.
GLEN HUNTLY – Zone 1 – fantastic location – close to everything
- 4-8 minutes (depends on how much or how fast you walk ...lol) direct walk to train/tram, bus stops and shops and cafes
- 15-20 minutes train ride to Melbourne city centre (depends if train goes direct or through the city loop)
- 20-25 minute tram ride (No. 67) to St Kilda beach
- 10 minute bus ride to Chadstone (largest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere with shops, theatres, bowling alleys etc.)
- 3 minutes walk to green parks/bike tracks
- 15 minutes walk direct to outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts (weather permitting)
- 15 minutes walk to gymnasiums
On arrival -
- beautiful towels and soap in your room
- Freshly laundered sheets, doona covers and all linen

We used to include our breakfast and dinners however as food prices have rapidly increased soaring in Melbourne we also make available -
** Breakfast including – juice, fruit, tea/coffee (coffee machine – Lavazza coffee), cereal, toasts, cheeses and eggs – complimentary
and
**Beautiful big cooked Dinner at night - home cooked buffet style help yourself dinner (as per our picture) – $20 per night per person if you would like, or bring some food in or dine out - up to you. Use of our kitchen is available.
*We also give you lots of suggestions of available of places to visit and where you can book and how to get there
1) You are welcome to help yourself to tea/coffee at all times
2)Washing done and folded twice a week/ Irons, ironing board and Elna press and Steamer you can use complimentary
3) Complimentary - DVD/CD library (heaps of varied music) and huge Book library , also (avid collection of movies –current and great selection)
4) Complimentary use of hairdryers
** We have had to include a $60 final Cleaning Fee on leaving your room (per bedroom used) prior to checking out. We ask for this together with your full payment on arrival day of your stay. We do not have credit card facilities and prefer cash on the day of your arrival please. If staying a long length of time with us banking details can be discussed... with thanks.

About the Area
We are in the south eastern area - 8 ks from the city and only 4 mins direct walk to all transport - train/tram and bus stops. It is a lovely peaceful "village" type of place but with some great shops and Chadstone only 10 minutes bus ride away (the largest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere). Lots nice cafes, restaurants, bars and great fashion shops and markets sometimes. Go into the city centre in 15-20 minutes by train or by tram for longer relaxing time.

House Rules
Payment Method - If your booking is longer than 3 months we require our guests to pay 10% of the booking total to us in advance to hold your room. Homestay.com charges a 15% service fee which is a payment to them and not to do with our payment). We ask our guests to give us at least 14 days notice for any cancellation. Any cancellation later than this will not be refunded.
Full payment of the Homestay is to be paid on the first day on arrival, along with passport or licence details . Note we do not have credit card facility.
General house cleanliness- rooms are expected to be kept clean
Please do not invite strangers into our home; if you would like to invite a friend over just agree it with me in advance
We are really happy when you offer "Is there anything I can do to help especially around dinner time" - it's always appreciated - things like empty the dishwasher, or any little thing.
Please enjoy your stay and treat our house as you would your own home!

It was a great stay with Joy and Owen! They are very welcoming and friendly. They also provided useful information for our trip in Melbourne. The house is in a quiet neighbourhood with train station, restaurants and supermarket nearby.

Joy and Owen are perfect gentle lady
and gentleman with both are very kind hearted and joyous. I felt always very homely. further every cooking materials was available at their kitchen so that I have had liberty to cook my Indian food. Bath room was well decorated so room was very clean and well maintained. Bus, tram and train services are very near from house and Many thanks joy and Owen for your hospitality. Joy and Owen were super welcoming and helpful when planning our days in Melbourne. Lovely to stay in a house during a longer trip, felt homely. Room was clean and you were able to come and go as you please. All facilities were available also!

I would like to thank Joy and Owen for their hospitality and availability. They were very helpful and nice with everything (especially when I got sick), which made me eventually call their house mine. The room was big enough and very nice for my three-month stay. It is well located and easily accessible via public transportation, close to gym facilities, the CBD, and grocery stores. It is a calm place to be, especially if you like to spend time with roommates from many different origins and with a local family !

Joy always told me that going outside would be more fun. However, i didn't do that a lot. Because staying at their house was also meaningful to me.September 2024
I had an amazing time at Joy and Owen's house. I really appreciated meeting and spending time with the others guests from all around the world - and made some friends along the way! As for the hosts, they were very welcoming and even invited my parents when they were visiting me in Melbourne. We also did a lot of fun activities like Uno games and watching footy.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
